vivadicta-mcp
Tiny bash shim that launches VivaDicta for Mac in MCP-server mode. Distributed via Homebrew so the install command stays short and stable:
brew install n0an/tap/vivadicta-mcp
claude mcp add --scope user vivadicta -- vivadicta-mcp
That's equivalent to:
claude mcp add --scope user vivadicta -- \
/Applications/VivaDicta.app/Contents/MacOS/VivaDicta --mcp-server
The shim expects VivaDicta.app to live at /Applications/VivaDicta.app. Install the app from a DMG at https://vivadicta.com first; the shim itself has no other dependencies.
MCP tool surface
The server exposes 12 tools to any stdio MCP client (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex CLI, Zed, VS Code):
- Reads: search and fetch transcriptions with natural-language timeframes; list presets / tags / Viva Modes / vocabulary / word replacements.
- Writes: rewrite a transcription with any preset; transcribe local audio files or YouTube URLs with live progress polling; poll async job status.
Every tool self-describes via the MCP tools/list call - your agent sees the full schemas (names, descriptions, argument types) the moment it connects. No separate doc round-trip needed.
Why a separate repo?
The main VivaDicta for Mac source lives in a private repo. Homebrew formulae need publicly-fetchable source URLs, so this tiny repo carries the shim and tags it for brew to pin against. The shim content is mirrored in the main repo's scripts/vivadicta-mcp for day-to-day development; this repo is the distribution canonical.
